Emilee receives two awards from the School of Biomedical Sciences
Emilee was awarded the BMS Success Award and the Anatoly Khitrin Award!
The Student Success Award is given annually to a BMS student who exemplifies early career success, including accomplishments in teaching/mentorship, research, service and leadership. The Anatoly Khitrin award is given in memory of Professor Anatoly Khitrin (1955-2017) and awarded to a student who demonstrates creativity and independence in their research.
Emilee has been very successful since her first year at BMS, but she had an outstanding 2023-2024 academic year. This included 3 scientific publications (2 peer-reviewed), 2 external grant submissions (1 awarded), 1 internal grant awarded, 2 conference presentations and many new collaborations.
In terms of teaching, she has taught two full (3h) undergraduate courses (ANTH 18630 Human Evolution and ANTH 38440 Quantitative Anthropology) from year 1 of her admission to the program while carrying out her research tirelessly. In addition, Emilee successfully defended her PhD dissertation 1 year ahead of schedule. Very well deserved awards!
